Few questions on TT

I am currently running TT to rid my fish of Ich (did not qt a new arrival and ended up with it in my DT, yes I learned the hard way to QT as many of us have)

For the TT there is a decent fish load in there so I am concerned about ammonia control during their 3 day stay.

Will Prime alone control it provided I dose daily during the 3 days?

I saw in Snorvich's post on TT he mentioned discarding the filter floss after each water change, Should I have some type of filtration on the TT tanks? Right now I only have a heater, an airstone and several pieces of PVC.

Lastly, in the DT I fed 3 times a day since 7 of my fish are small anthias. WHat would you consider "light" feeding for them?

i have just an hob filter with some floss in it to catch any crud. i have a kole tang in the beginning stage of TT, just did my first transfer yesterday morning and he took it like a champ. i'm using a 10g tank with heater, air stone, pvc for a hidey hole. he's taking it all in stride.

i am also using a little prime but i'm doing about a 2-3g water change every day. so far, so good.

can't answer your question about feeding. i'm sure somebody else will chime in.

I only feed once a day while doing TT, plus a generous feeding just before I pull the fish for the next transfer.

Anyone have in input specifically on the filtration?

I TT using a pair of 10 gals, and I just add an air stone that diffuses coarse bubbles to provide O2 & circulation. You don't really need "filtration" if the fish are only going to be in the water for 3 days. That being said, if you want to add a HOB and/or small powerhead then go right ahead. No downside other than one more thing to sterile, and you will also need a "duplicate" for the next transfer. A daily squirt of Amquel or Prime will alleviate any ammonia concerns BTW.

I use 2 10g tanks with just a power head and a heater. No filter at all. I got a ammonia badge as well. In my own personal experience, the 3 days in each tank there was no ammonia issues and didnt have to use any prime and I feed heavy, sometimes 4 times a day, but I would make sure that all the food was eaten.

This. Prime or equivalent can be used but removal of uneaten food is important.

How do you sterilize the ammonia badge? I understand they need to stay wet but yet I would imagine they need to be sterilized with everything else?

i have read somewhere (may have even been the instructions that came with it) that they can get dry for extended periods of time. Just each time they get dry, the less effective they become, so don't want to do it too often.

I would use vinegar before bleach on them, but air drying is perfectly fine.

I would just pour a little RODI f/w over it, and let it air dry for 3 days. Vinegar/bleach would likely ruin it.

I've used hand soap also, but over time it seems to be degrading the function. Took about ten washes though.

Drying seems to be ok, haven't tried bleach or vinegar.
