Few questions

First off, I am a new reefer and zoanthids are absolutely my favorite.

I have about 7 different types in my tank. My main question is that my favorite ones, pink zoos, don't close up at night. How is this that all the others close and these look as open as ever at night?

2nd less important question is, has anybody purchased Zoo's off Ebay and had sucess. I see some really nice colors on Ebay but I am very weary. Any advice?

Thanks

Watch buying on Ebay some pictures are misleading. They doctor these pics up to make them more colorful. And when you get them they look nothing like what you seen on Ebay!

That is not true with all ebay sellers.
I have had very good luck with a couple and one that I have bid on and won several auctions.

tdalessa01,
I have a few colonies that don't seem to close up completely at night. As long as they are open during the day, I wouldn't worry about them.

Ebay can be hit or miss but I would ask for more pictures from the seller if it is possible of the exact pieces you are getting and what light they are under and a flash shot if possible.

Some of my zoas especially the pinks seem to stay open all night when my moonlights are brightest but they seem to do it more when they are hungry or growing... spot feed them a little food.

But as long as they look healthy and stay open all day I wouldn't really worry about it :)

Thanks for the replies. I have been spot feeding mysid shrimp once a week, and I feed it to my fish every other day.

Is once a week enough to spot feed? I feel like it is already a lot for my 30 gal.
