few sump questions

where should my 'drain' lines go from my main tank to my sump, its in 3 sections.. should 1 line go to my return pump and the other go to the section where the skimmer is? i wanna do a recirc. mod on my skimmer also.. tank is 150gallon.. any info would be great.. also what order would u put the equipment in and where should i put the heaters.. thanks

when you say 3 drain lines do you mean that there are only 3 holes in your tank, say for drain and return? Or do you have a way to get the water back into the tank. I would put the drain into the first chamber. In my set up the first chamber has my skimmer in it. then it goes into the second with live rock, arganite crushed coral and cheto. and the last hase my return pump. From the pump I went to a squid then out to 2 pipes on each side of the tank. I hope this helps Jim.

There are a variety of very feasable plans. Some drain all their water into the area where the skimmer is, and T off the return line for the water flow to the refugium. Some drain into the skimmer area and into the refugium seperately. Your noise is going to come from the drain... people try their best to minimize that problem. You want to avoid the flushing sound which comes from a drain that drains too quickly and sucks too much.
