Fiberglass or plastic electric boxes

Have you used fiberglass or plastic electric boxes to mount metal halide bulb bases? Can they take the heat? I would think they would be safer over the water than a galvanized one.

Stick with the galvanized. They will hold up to the heat better and they do not rust much if at all.

Also, if you do get wire short, they do not act as fuel for a fire. I know a little grim, but important to note.

Yeah, stick with what works. Usually any decent quality metal halide reflector will come with a ceramic base, anyway.

OK. Thanks for the info. I'm planning on mounting the ceramic base to the box.
