Fiji Purple

its quite popular to bring out reds and orange colors, it is like a daylight bulb usually replaces an Aquablue special, if you want an Actinic bulb get the blue+ or aquascience 22k

Hi GSMguy,

currently i'm using 2 x 250w 10k + 4 54w Giesemann Actinic Plus in my reef.

I'm wondering to swap 1 Actinic for 1 Fiji to explore the red and orange colors of my SPSs. What do you think?

that would be fine,

the Gmann actinics are not very bright i would try this, 3 ATI blue plus and 1 FP should give you much better supplementation maybe enough to make the yellow from the 10k disappear, lots of pop and they are much brighter with higher PAR than the Gman.

I run a Fiji in my T5 mix and love it. Think it would look great with your setup. I would place as close to the middle a possible. Would also consider replacing the actinic plus with aquascience 22K or blue plus.

The Aquascience 22,000K, Giesemann Actinic Plus and ATI Blue Plus are practically identical (450nm blue lamps). The Giesemann and Aquascience lamps are even from the same manufacturer (Narva). The Giesemann Pure Actinic is the one that is not very bright and is a deeper blue/purple.

PaulErik,
Would you consider AS-22k brighter then G--actinic plus? Do you think AS-22k is better bulb?

Mike, they are the same lamp (AS 22K and The G- Actinic Plus). Both of them use the Narva Blue 2 (0182) phosphor lamp but just relabel them under a different name. If you see a difference it is just a manufacturing tolerance. I personally and my exporter worked with the manufacturers of these lamps. The ATI lamp is made by Sylvania Europe (known as SLI in North America and is not associated with Osram Sylvania). The ATI lamp is made from similar phosphors but is built slightly differently (is not equipped with an extended cold spot/foot).

Ive used the Fiji purple for halide supplementation as well. It's a good supplement for blue halides if you like the color. As stated its brighter than the pure actinics. I would describe as a red-purple while the super actinics are a blue-purple.
You may or may not like it but an interesting lamp and worth trying.

PaulErik.,
Thank you as always for a great explanation. I do use G-SA tubes and so far been pretty happy. I never try ATi, i figure its beeter bulbs:).. I guess ill stay with G-SA..
My lighting is:
2x400w radiums
2-Fiji purples
2-G-SA

Hi I run 2 4ft Fiji purp t5's and it mixes very nice with my 4 vho actinic tubes, and I have a dim/ballast 400w with a 10k reeflux,2 250 hqi 20k radiums on my 120g tech almost 6 months old ,the Fiji purp t5's makes everything pop in my opinion .
