Filamented and Tricolor Fairy wrasse question

I just got these 2 beautiful fish, Filamented and Tricolor wrasse. They are for my 180g tank. My questions:

1) Do they need in group? as I only have 1 each.
2) Do they need sand? After research, some say they do, some say they don't.

Thank you so much for the response everyone. Is there any info out there that explain compatibility of wrasses? Or is it basically as long as they're in in group.

I've also read that some big wrasse might attack the smaller ones.

there is no guarentee on whether they will fight and chase, ive had alot of wrasse's over the years and same species can be completely different with a different fish, also other tank mates can make a differance, my powder blue tang plays peace keeper in my tank, if my filemented starts chasing another wrasse the tang rushes in and blocks lol
