i ordered a filefish from a LFS and they said it would be safe in my 125g reef tank...i told them what i have...a lot of softies and 4 blood shrimp...pretty nice in size.

should i be worried about this fish eating them? ive done some research and some people say that it will nip at them and some say it won't.does anyone here have any expierence with them?

I have orange-spots in with sexy shrimp with no problem. Have an orange-tail that just came out of QT with two peppermints with no problems. But I do fear for my sexys a bit with the orange-tail. What species did you order?

Species will likely make a diff on this... mimics (prionurus) should be safe with larger shrimps as well.

i really don't know the exact species of the fish. i called my LFS and told them what my problem was and that is what they reccomended for me. they have one in there coral display and it doesn't mess with anything in there.
all i know is that it is brown with spots

From your description it sounds like the aiptasia eating filefish, Acreichthys tomentosus. I have kept this species with my blood shrimp pair with no problems and my orange tail doesn't bother them either.

ok, thanks guys for responding..it makes me feel better getting one...i have some aptasia growing and the aptasia x isn't working
