Filling up the tank, horizontal overflow issue.

I am currently filling up my tank with RO water and I have added a large amount of salt. (I should have filled with a hose to check for problems but I didn't damage done. :( ) But now the tank is mostly full, the water level is below the lip of my overflowes but one has water in it already and is draining slowly to the sump. Obviously it has a leak in the bottom/side somewhere. The water level outside the overflow is higher than inside. My question is do you think this leak is a problem? Im thinking its probably not a big enough leak to make a diffrence once my pumps are going. But this is my first tank and I am no expert. Thanks

The only problem I can think of is the tank would keep draining into the overflow and would eventually flood the sump if you had a power outage.

Outside of that it wont be a problem. Its no different than sending that water over the top of the overflow. Unless ofcourse the leak is faster than what your return pump can keep up with. If thats the case the pump was too small to begin with. :)

You really need to seal the leak up or you will overflow your sump in a power outage or when you have it down for maintenance. I would do it now as it will never be this easy again.

Eventually the water in the tank would drain down to the lowest point of the lowest bulkhead inside your overflow in the event of a return pump shut down. If this amount of water will cause your sump to overflow, it will be a problem.

Thanks for the tips everyone. That is kinda what I was thinking. Well, my tank is a 125 and the sump is 55. ;) I dont think it would overflow but I am going to take care of the problem now before I have living creatures in the tank that rely on the system working smoooootthh. I drained all the water from the tank to the sump to about 1/4 below the overflows bottom edge, the sump is VERY full now. But any leak coming in from the outside should be able to be fixed from the inside correct? I wonder how to find the leak.... Well thanks everyone!
