Filter Feeder living in Acro, Good or Bad?

Like the title says. I've tried to do a search but came up with one result. I'm sure there are more out there but wanted to know if these filter feeders eventually harm the acro by burrowing in? Ive got 5 or 6 living inside my new Lokani.

I have some living in acros and monties. don't seem to bother them. Had some kind of worm with multiple tentacles burrowing in my montiporas wich were burning the coral around there hole. Anyone know what these are?

many maricultured and wild pieces have barnacles living in them that are harmless.

its probably a barnacle. does it look like a glove kinda, moving left to right and opening and closing?

I have had this burrowing filter feeder living in this tort for 6 months, the only slight problem is the dusting it leaves on the coral can collect detritus. I have never had a barnacle on an acropora but I have seen issues with other hobbyist having them on their acropora.

I several parasites living in the polyps in a tenuis. This coral browned out during a tank crash last year but bounced back nicely. When it started coming back I noticed that several polyps had these filter feeders in them. These polyps are stunted. The rest of the piece if growing quickly with no signs of these filter feeders spreading.

yeah it looks like a glove and it is a maricultured piece. Wanted to know long term effects. Will the coral's growth be affected? Anyway to get rid of these guys safely without harming the coral?

your coral will be fine with it. it may eventually die due to lack of food and your coral will just grow over it.

i agree, they will more than likely die off. if they dont your coral will be fine.

I currently have a nice sized frag (about 3"x3") with multiple, tiny barnacles in them. The piece also came with an acro crab who has not attempted to do anything to the barnacles.

They would bother the crap out of me and I'd chop the branch, lol.

Meh, The rest of the coral is doing great. They are on the "trunk" of the coral so doing anything about them would be tough. I'm not going to disturb it now.

I have several pieces with those very worms in them. Don't worry about it. Your coral will be fine.

im pretty sure every acro in my tank has those little fan like barnicles living inside of them...and thats like 50 colonies or so...ive never had a problem with them....my big efflo has 2 big worms that live in it that spit out a spider web like stuff,seems they are catching particles from the water...they dont harm it either,

Your SPS's won't be bothered by those filter feeders, so don't worry.

In fact, I've got a christmas tree worm in one of my white/green staghorn, in which both species have been growing at a steady rate without over-growing each other.
