Do you think is a good idea to preclean pad filters in a low flow fudge with low flow? The chito will benefit from this?

I would clean the pads on a weekly basis, or not use them at all. Any detritus build up will lead to nitrates. And for the record refugium = fuge and chaetomorpha = chaeto.
