Can the filter socks be cleaned? Or just replace then when it gets really dirty?

Washing machine. I use hot water on the gentle cycle with no detergent or bleach. Comes out like new.

how often do you have to change these things? Also, if you don't wash them soon; wouldn't they smell bad if you kept them somewhere? <----I only ask cause I don't know and was interested in getting them too. :)

Should change every 3 days... once dry there is no noticiable order. A nice 5 gallon bucket to toss them in, once full, wash...rinse...repeat

well, i would think it would be change whenever they are clogged. mine do not clog for about 2-4 weeks on a new bag. the more often you wash, the more often the material will break up and pick up less. i usually only reuse bags 2-4 times for this reason alone.

Weekly should be the minimum IMO. Many reefers change them out every couple days, to each his own. Mine do smell when I take them out, even if they're dry, but I put them in the garage in a bucket and they really don't smell unless you have your nose right up to them. I usually wash 2 or 3 at a time.

I almost always have them in large quantities.
$5 each for 100 micron 7" hard plastic ring (new)
Pick up in Garden Grove

Wash mine in bleach two hot water rinses and air dry no problems yet

That is what I do too, but just cold water. I also turn them inside out., but it is starting to show some wear, time to dispose after a couple more uses.

I have been using 100 micron, and I think I will try the 200 micron next time. Some of the phyto lists the food range from 30-200 micron sizes.
