filter use to ease joining two tanks???

I have a very large cannister filter...wondering if I should set this up and use it to minimalize a cycle trying to join a 50 gallon and 90 gallon into a 110. Both tanks are full of live rock (7yrs running on the 90) and the 50 is full of corals...will move fish and corals slowly but wondering if I should load the canister and have it running to help cycle (and remove amm. etc.).. Any suggestions

Sounds kinda overkill to me, but as they say, better safe than sorry. I might run the canister filter for a while after combining everything into the 110. Hmm, are you moving a sandbed/s?

Thought it may be but I am so happy with fish selection and the existing corals I would hate to lose livestock. But yes the sandbed in the 90 has been there for 7 years and the 50 has been up for 6months (moved someone elses entire tank). I'm thinking the 90 gallon sandbed is going to "blast off" when/if I
try and move it over...maybe start with fresh as I have the tank full of LR. I haven't had a filter on it for 4 or 5 years...and it's doing quite well...minus some green hair algae...
