Filtration for a Marine Aquarium

Hi folks

So I decided to shift my corals and other stuff into a new aquarium which was previously a fresh-water aquarium and had the EHEIM Classic 250 external canister filter (https://www.eheim.com/en_GB/products/technology/external-filters/classic)

I wish to ask one question... Do you guys think that this external filter can do for a marine aquarium? Since I don't have enough space to build a refugium / sump tank... and what do I need to consider when switching tanks?

That looks more like a reactor although it says you can put filter media in it. What size tank would you be installing this for? Maybe a 30g or so but anything larger you will likely need additional equipment. Unless maybe it's a fish only setup.

IMO, might have to add some live rock and a hang-on skimmer and you should be ok.

This filter (formerly known as the 2213), is really only good for a smallish aquarium. I, myself use the next size up 350 or 2215 for 40-60 gallons and the next size (2217) for anything larger. To avoid this filter becoming a nitrate factory, you might consider replacing the eheim media with Sera Siporax.

That looks awfully small IMO. What size is your tank? I would rely heavily on live rock and live sand for biological filtration. Get your self a decent protein skimmer. When I had a HOB filter on my 75 gal I used a Marineland emperor 400 with a couple carbon pads in there just as a little extra added filtration.
