fin rot conditions

Hello,
I'm starting to see some fin rot issues. Any suggestions? I have a 110 High glass with fish only, aggressive. I have a UV, skimmer, actinic lighting. The tank is about 18 mos old with few problems. I have the following fish.

Lion
Snowflake Eel
Yellow Tang
Yellow Angel
Huma Huma Trigger
Clown Trigger
Burr Fish

Everyone is eating well. Meat, flakes, and a seafood combo with some spinach. Also a healthy batch of dried seaweed every day. I have had copper in the tank. Have not added any in 8 weeks.

Fin rot issues are generally the result of bacterial problem often associated with deteriorating water quality .. not uncommon in "predator tanks" which tend to be on the "dirty side" and also have fin nippers. You might consider upping the frequency of water changes, tank cleaning, and insuring your filtering is up to snuff. Running some fresh carbon and frequently cleaning your filters might help as well.

If improving water quality does not fix the problem .. then quarantine and use of antibiotics may be in order.

I was thinking along the same lines. I just did a 25% water change, and removed all the filters. I'll change the carbon now as well. I am running the protein skimmer, can I eliminate filter besides the wet dry filter and let the skimmer work?

Not sure I understood your response.

Many/most predator tanks tend to be "dirty" -- as such, they often require extra filtration to help maintain water quality. Removing filtration (as opposed to frequent cleaning of filtration media) is not a good option when trying to improve water quality.

Many people who have predator tanks will do large frequent water changes .. some will keep crushed coral substrates which will facilitate thorough cleaning of the substrate .. almost all will run heavy duty filtration to help maintain water quality.
