What are your comments on the last entry to my 30g...read my signiture to see what i have in there already...im thinking a niger trigger right now...comments please?

too many fish already. 30g is too small for a scopas tang.. dont think about adding a niger trigger. an upgrade is needed in the near future.

actually, i dont have that much live rock in there at all...i have about 4 decent size pieces and a bunch of little pieces...my style of tank is a little different than most..i have it setup with enough holes to satisfy the fish happily, but i personally like a more open tank...bc i have the tang, and the clown, as well as the damsel, they are generally very active swimmers and use alot of the tank to swim...so i keep the rock minimal, and its nicer to watch imo...something to think about.

Not to be rude is this a joke or am I going crazy? That tang should be in atleast a 90g tank!!! and you want to add a trigger?? Lose the tang and keep what you have and your tank is set. Try to do what is right for the fish.

I would not recommend a trigger going into anything smaller than 75 gallons, especially not a niger. And in general, a 30g is considered inappropriately small for any tang. I would consider getting rid of the tang.

A goby or a hawk fish would make a suitable replacement for a tank your size.

haha okay...i see you guys all use the tank size limits like a bible...im sorry i posted this in the first place....ill try one of the other forum sites for this one..thanks anyway!

Sad to see fish pulled out of the ocean to be stuck in an overstocked 30g. Some people are so stubborn though, no wonder most of the posts I see on other forums(as I search through google) are very off.

All I am basing my advice on is many years of fish keeping, particularly having kept some of the fish on your list. You have to worry about things like aggression, growth rates, size, and activity levels. These things are important to keeping, happy, healthy, and long living fish.

I've got a young niger trigger as the soul fish in my 75 gallon right now and he swims around the entire tank and is very active. Restricting one of these guys to a 30 gallon is a joke.

once again, someone only looking for the answer that encourages their agenda. i hope there is not another forum out there that will advocate the mis treatment of animals. i tried not to chime in on this one for a few days, but the attitude you expressed in the post i quoted is juvenile. there are suggested tank size limits for a reason. you are taking an animal out of a ocean where it has unlimited room to move and be happy, then you put it in a box of water and for most of the species we keep any size tank is a compromise, let alone a 30 gallon. your tank is suitable for the smaller fish you are keeping but for the tang and trigger it is cruel.

like i said, i respect everyones opinions, this is a very popular debate i have seen for many tears debated on all different forum sites. Some people are dead set against trying things in smaller tanks...others have the idea that everybook you read, and every site you see a tank limit on...you must abide by that...everyones opinions are respected, to snap at me like that was imo uncalled for and irrational...BUT as a Fish keeper, i respect it...i am a risk taker in fish keeping whether or not you believe me or not, my tang has been one the most successful fish ive ever kept. almost two years, beautiful color, and an amazing energetic swim...im sory if i came off the way i did, i didnt mean to be rude, i know of other people who have kept fish like triggers or angels in smaller tanks and have had great success...i do apologize for any misunderstandings.

It's the fact that the tang is not thriving. Sure he can live in there for awhile, but I would compare it to being in jail. You can live there, but are you happy being in there? I can see keeping a tang in a 55g-75g being a debate, but for a 30g it should be fact that a tang should not be in it.

wow...haha i didnt even realize that was on there...one of my friends who is a member here (or at least used to be to my knowledge) created this for me... im not a marine biologist, wanted to be one for awhile throughout high school, but am not...haha sorry for confusion.
