Ive finally had enough of not running a quarantine and losing fish to crypt.
I don't know if its the ich that's killing them or something else (most likely flukes that I have since treated for) weakening them to the point of becoming infested but I'm tired of it. Currently everything seems to be doing ok but I got a new orange-shoulder tang last week that's now showing a couple spots if you look hard enough. My blenny, and gramma scratch a little from time to time but those two, bluethroat trigger and yellowtail damsel dont show a single spot.
Knowing for a fact that my tank has ich, is it a good idea to yank all the fish and treat? I'm leaning towards Cupramine.
Yesterday I set up my spare 75 as a QT/hospital tank. I plan on pulling all my fish out of my DT and letting it run fish-less for a couple months. This is my first QT so I have a couple questions.
First, I wasn't worried about TDS for it so I used tap and treated with Tetra Aquasafe Plus not even thinking that its supposed to remove heavy metals. The QT still needs to cycle so it will be sitting for a bit but even after the wait will this interfere with the Cupramine?
Next, are there any fish that absolutely can not be exposed to Cupramine? I'm mostly concerned about my lawnmower blenny and a couple clowns I have coming in.
Third, after this treatment I plan on just keeping this tank up and running for future use. I know sometimes ich is not visible. Is it a good idea to treat every new fish with Cupramine and Prazipro? I hate the thought of going through all the work of tearing down my DT to get the fish out just to bring in a speck of ich I couldn't see after the new fish observation period.
Thanks for any advice you can give.
