Finally filling the new aquarium with water

I finally finished all of my plumbing and everything else, and now I'm filling my aquarium with saltwater just as fast as my RO/DI can pump it out. It's been a long time coming, and I owe a great deal of thanks to Randy, who picked up a TON of stuff for me back in June when he drove through Indiana and stopped off at Premium Aquatics.

Anyway, here is a quick picture of the tank and stand. I also have a matching canopy, but I haven't had the chance to mount the light fixture inside the canopy yet (but that's my plan in the long run).

One of the things slowing me down right now is the fact that I only have one empty salt bucket for mixing and carrying water around. If anyone has a few extra empty salt buckets that I could have, that would be super helpful. I'm out in West Knoxville if anyone has any extras I could stop by and get.

Go to walmart and get a cheap rubbermaid tub. You will need it to do water changes with anyways ( at least make them easier than a bucket) I have a cheapo pump I use to mix the water overnight and then pump the water from my rubbermaid to the tank so I don't even lift the water myself. Much less messy!

Yeah, I'd definately go ahead and get a larger container... I use a pair of Rubbermaid trash cans to fill with RO/DI and do my water changes... BTW I'm sooooo jealous of that Solaris... I wanted one pretty bad, but I was told I would have needed 2 for my 120g... Which is REDICULOUS!!!!! But you'll definately have to give me some feedback on it...

Glad you're finally setting it up though!!! Only what??? 6 months in the making??? lol

pick up some more 1/4 inch hose and run directly from your ro/di

I have seemingly half a dozen 7g (200g salt) buckets and I'm about to throw out all but 2 or 3. In short, come get as many as you want; free of course. Powell, North Knox. PM for directions

Yes, it is finally up and running! I have the rock just sitting in the tank right now and I will be doing the "proper" aquascaping on Friday. For corals I'm leaning towards SPS, and I'm not sure exactly what fish yet, but I'm working on the list. I have everything for the tank running except I don't have the calcium reactor hooked up yet, but I'll get to it eventually.

Long story. I have an MTC ProCal sitting out in the garage that I need to sell. I originally got that because it seemed like a very nice, high quality reactor (and it certainly is!).

However, despite having previously given approval for some stuff to be outside the stand (i.e. chiller), when it really came down to it, my wife wasn't too crazy about that. She pretty much wanted everything water related to be under the stand so we could lock it up. Which I guess I can understand because we have an 18-month old and another one on the way. She didnn't want any pipes with water running from behind the stand to somewhere else.

So anyway, I'm now going to use a Deltec calcium reactor because they have a really small footprint and I could fit it and everything else under the stand. So that's what I'm going to use.

Anyone looking for a really good deal on a brand new MTC ProCal (with the pump upgraded from a PanWorld to an Iwaki with Japanese motor)?!?

LOL I'm glad I'm not the only one in kept in check by the woman... But your child's safety is most important... Didn't know you were a dad... Love to have your reactor, but unfortunately I have a MRC-1 that I'll be getting rid of soon enough... I think I'm sticking with my Koralin... Oh well...
