I just did my test to my FOWLR 55gl and got this readings:
april 16 th

ph=8.2
s.g=1.025
ammonia=0.0
nitrite=0.0
nitrate=0.0

i have been cycling it for exactly 3 weeks today and plan to have FO for now and start soft corals maybe in a few months, so what is next? comments here !

Yea! I'd go ahead and add your cleanup crew first. I prefer nassarius and cerith snails for the sandbed and astea/turbos for the glass. Once you know the tank is stable it's ok to add the fish. Take it slow and everthing will be good. ;)

I agree with drummereef except I don't like the turbo's. Granted my tank is a 29 gallon but to me they are like little bulldozers knowcking over frags and such.

thanks drum thats what i was planning im gonna order janitors online so i can have them by tomorrow or in 2 days i guess if i order at www.saltwaterfish.com do you have any references of this OFS? i dont have too much brown algae on my rocks right now just some on my sand and few spots green one on my rock! so i was planning 10 nassarius and 10 turbos to start is this a a good idea?

hi henry u mean turbos didnt do a good job over yout 29 or what? what u used instead and you had lot of algae when u added critters?

Turbos do a good job it is just that they kocked some of my frags overe constanly. Maybe I did not have them attached well enough, but the turbos IMO are too large in my tank. I did not have a lot of algae in my tank. I just have nassirius - cerith - and astreas for snails. I am happy with them and they are doing a good job at keeping things in check.

Turbos are fine in a 55. Margerita snails, Cerith, Nassarius, Astrea are all good choices. Twenty will be fine to get started. You can fine tune the quantity and type as you have the problem algae spring up that we all get when the tank is still fairly new.

thanks for those tips guys.
i just noted nobody mentioned about WATER CHANGES ! lol im getting ready for 10% or 15% water change is ok if i do it at this point?

sounds like your off to a good start....

just please be a responsible reef keeper and give it another 2 or 3 weeks to make sure ammonia, trate and trite stay at 0 before putting any fish in there

hi reeefer i guess there are two things to consider that site is pretty good and talks about the proccess of caring and curing your rock, you take care of it in a separate container and do water changes until you "cured" your rock, after that you put in in the tank with the live sand just for cycling, but once is in there i guess for other readings i made u should leave the whole thing until cycles is done, basically water changes are for curing process. i may be wrong but what is what i read and if someone know im wrong please correct me, i will aprecciate it.
