Finally...!! Pics of my TBS tank

About 5 weeks ago, I got part 1 of the package. Needless to say, I was more than pleased with what I got. Five days later, the ammonia had completed its cycle, never going over 0.5 - 1.0 ppm. Not even one water change. Being new to all this, I wondered if I had somehow messed up - could it have cycled already?? Well, I asked Richard and it all seemed about right. Long live real live rock!! Ready for part 2.

Part 2 was just CRAZY!!!!!! Seriously, it took me a while to figure out how to fit it all in there - let alone get over the variety of life that came in. The rock was covered with barnacles, lots of feather dusters, sponges and crabs in every hole (still seeing some new guys in there...) I got the most BEAUTIFUL shell covered in barnacles - well, you look at it. It has become the club house for snails and crabs. I also got a coral (need help with ID here...) that has brown spots and a base full of feather dusters - just amazing - even when I don't know what it is!! I could go on and on describing the other things but this is my first post EVER and don't want to get carried away... My pics are not great and DO NOT do justice to the beauty of it all - here they go anyway.

Richard, sorry it took me this long... Better late than never, right? I've been enjoying my new ocean :)

Anybody can tell me what this is? ''
My 5 yr. old daughter calls it the leopard rock. You can also see "Pickle" the cucumber in there.

Here's the tank - a work in progress. I've had to move every rock around to find some mantis shrimps. Got 2 of them from the 1st batch. Still on the lookout for others that are clicking away in the night... (so far, they've proven to be smarter than me...)

That's it for now. Hope this shows up...

awesome, thanks for posting! i really like that barnacle covered whelk shell.

what are your plans for your mantis shrimp, btw? if you post that you have some on the mantis shrimp board, i'm sure you can find someone in NY who would be glad to take them off your hands.

thanks -
I wish I would have thought of that. I brought the two of them to a lfs. Hopefully they found a good home... Will post it there whenever I get the others.

NICE!

NICE!

Nice job on aquascaping....you must be an art teacher....or you missed your calling!

That is a sweet tank!

BTW...the plant thingy next to the orange sponge is a type of soft coral!
Look close and you will see polyps!

Sea ya

The shell is definitely the icing on the cake!

sweet stuff. The 'leaopard rock' looks like some hard coral.

Spirobranchus porites, I don't know if it's the worms or a coral or what but the spotty rocks and chrismas tree worms I have always seen together.

Edit: just noticed we named our sea cucumbers the same thing :)
