So I have a small story to tell. I've been in this hobby for about ten years now. When I first started I was able to locate an amazing super male Lineatus from a shop in Chicago. Coloration was amazing and fish quickly acclimated to my tank with a few days and did well. Unfortunately he died about 3-4 years later in a horrific tank move during the winter.
A few years after that I tried a few different super male specimens and they all came in shipped stressed out, pale colors compared to my former male. I think I tried 2-3 more specimens and they all perished quickly. Hiding for days after acclimation. Refusing food.
Anyhow, flash forward 5 years. I took a nice break from the hobby. Broke down my 220 and called it quiets. A few months back I bought a new house and decided it was time to jump back in ring small. I tried a small nano size tank and fell right back in love with the hobby. Then went to Reefer show in NYC and The Red Sea Reefer tanks really caught my eye. I bought and set one up the next day!!!!
I was searching YouTube and found a guy that sells fish TheReefCorner and he has posted a Lineatus a few months back. I asked if he possibly still had it, didn't expect a thing... He replied no, but emails me a week later he's got a super male. The video was stunning of the specimen. Price was fair. I was also lucky, fish was an hour drive away.... [emoji106][emoji106]
So I picked him up at 10:30 this morning. I had him dripped and done by 1 pm. He hid in for about 5 minutes and them started exploring around a little bit at a time. He is now swimming around the tank and fully acclimated.... Ready for this??? He's eating pellets. I attest this to ED from Reef Corner having this fish for over a week. He must have really been settled there. He was also eating with him as well... Take a look at video below.. His coloration is super duper male!!!!!
Crossing fingers!!!
