For those that weren't aware;

AIMS has rejuvenated their website and Veron's Corals of the World (COTW) is available to all.

http://coral.aims.gov.au/speciesPages/

While I find the SDMAS page slightly easier to navigate, AIMS is the original source of the information. I have come across a few instances were the AIMS site has a more complete image database (primarily the skeletal images) than the SDMAS site. In my mind, the most complete resource is chief.

Utilizing both sites has been ideal for me given the delayed upload speed from AIMS (Australian) servers.

Beats flipping though the 3 volumes. But agreed, the SDMAS is easier. I kind of wish there was a ID page that narrowed it down by type of corals, type of growth, polyp structure, until it gave you a few choices it could be to choose from.

indeed, oh most accurate whisperer of the scleractinia. :)
It is useful the way Veron uses the "groups" of similar growth forms within each genus. It would be so easy just to add that one additional element / column to the database model. But I have to say that the AIMS pictures are sweet...now if they could just collect enough donations to host AIMS on a better server with more bandwidth.
