I finally got my new tank set up and running. Here are some lame photos.

Both tanks were made by TY. It is a 75gal display and a 45gal sump with a display in the center.

Yes, I have heard people complain about them but, I have been using them for over a year and have never been able to register any nitrates or nitrites.

Interesting idea for the sump (the fact that it's sorta viewable).

Glad you're all set up...wish my 120 was!

Funny thing, just the other day I was working on plans for my stand to be.....and came up with something similar, I like it a lot.

Wildman, who is Ty? I will be needing some one to do a sump for me too. Did he do the plumbing?

Thanks all. I always thought a sump was wasted display space. Mine will eventually be an assortment of macro algae. I am trying to go without a skimmer.

Ty is the owner of Ocea (I think that is the right spelling). They make custom tanks, skimmer, stands, canopies, cabinets, etc. Good price and great craftmanship on the cabinets & etc is what I have heard.

Why no skimmer????? A good skimmer was step one in my equipment planning, then lights, then flow.

I would like my next tank to have part of the sump as a frag tank. Think that would make more usable area.

Why no skimmer?????
Several reasons; cost, room, and (I use this term loosely) I am kinda a naturalist. I don't like that they pull out a lot of good things as well as bad that you have to put back in the water. If I were having issues with high levels I would use one in a minute but, if I can control my levels naturally even better. I want to use as few additives as possible.

I am thinking later about putting a frag rack in the back.

Cool

Wildman the tank looks great!!I'm thinking about ordering my 60 starphire cube from Ty.How long did it take to have your tank built.I've read on RC some people had to wait a long time and that customer service was a bit slow.

Fishunt, you can't be in a hurry. The sump he did in under two weeks. The tank took closer to a month. It just depends on his schedule at the time. He only does this part time and he is hard to get a hold of sometimes. If you can wait I feel it is worth it.

That's what I thought. He has actually been answering my e mails pretty quick!I had another question. How is the silicone work?He sent a few pics but I can't see how good it is.My quotes from Miricles & AGE were double the price of Ty"s.They say you get what you pay for. This has me concerned a bit.

The silicone work looks really good. The only issue I had is with the corners of the black trim around the top of the tank were a little rough on the tank. The sump he made later looks much better.
