Finger coral help

Hi,

I have just received a coral from a fellow reef keeper that has been having problems.

The coral I have been given used to be a pink finger leather (lobium type).
It is now white with some pink polyps on it.

It used to be 10cm and now a small 4cm and it doesn't stand up?

Has anyone had this happen or know why this may have happened?

It has been in this poor state for 6 months with no progress....

Is there anything I can now do to help it recover?

I can post a pic if that helps.

Many thanks

IMO, I would try adding iodine supplements, soft corals sometimes lack this. Also, I wouldn't try moving it towards or away from the light until its state improves. Good luck.

cheers for that, i will look into it...

It was n a tank with 250 w halides and now its in my RSM so it will be fine hopefully.

Saw today for first time in a long time it had 1/5 of its polyps out!!

Glad to hear that it is coming around. I've had several leathers not open for weeks after a switch in tanks, seems pretty common. Hopefully its doing much better now.

Mine took a while to fully acclimate as well. 6 months does seem like a long time tho, but as long as theres been some peogression it should be ok.
