Finger leather not opening.

I got a finger leather from the LFS last weekend, my first soft coral. I've had zoas and shrooms in there for quite a while now. I slowly drip acclimated it and then placed it at the bottom of the tank. The polyps will extend slightly but I would venture to guess that it's not quite 50%. I have been slowly moving it up off the bottom so it can adjust to the light and have also had it in different flow-rate areas. How much flow do they like? I am also including lighting specs and water parameters. Thanks.

Moderate flow would be best. Give it a few weeks to adjust it should open up for you. Also, your CA seems kinda high. Do you keep any SPS?

Thanks. No SPS. CA is high because we're on well water and in the filter there are oyster shells. Needless to say my topoff water takes the place of CA supplementation.

What type of feeding should it respond to? I've got some Reef Chili that I think I'm going to try.

Leathers can do that. I once had one close up for over 3 months. Just give it time and patients and it will eventually open up.

Moderate flow and reasonable high light are good.
