Are these popular tanks? I ran across one online and I'm thinking of getting one.
Has anyone had experience with them? Good? Bad? any info would be greatly appreciated...

I'm not a fan of these tanks for 2 reasons.

they are made out of acrylic
they are bowfront

both are a no-no as far as i am concerned.

You know, I noticed that before (bowfront), but it didn't weigh as heavy as you mention it now. I'm not a big fan of the bowfronteither, but it's a small tank...

Acrylic has better optical qualities than glass and is not as prone to leakage as glass, am I not correct?

To me, it doesn't look significantly bowed at all...

The optical difference in the acrylic will be completely negated by the bowfront. When you bow a pane of acrylic (or glass) it bends the light and distorts. Not to mention that acrylic scratches REALLY easily so again, negating optical clarity.

As far as leakage goes - either one of them can leak. There is no "which is better" in that department. Any time you have a seam where one piece meets another, there is a potential for leakage.

in my opinion you should look into a standard aquarium and if the all in one idea is important to you maybe add some baffles to create the chamber(s) you want. (or better yet drill the bottom and add an overflow and a sump below) good choices in that size range would be:
29gal 30x12x18
30gal 36x12x16
30breeder 36x18x12
33long 48x13x12
37gal 30x12x22

etc, etc... there are a lot of good tanks in the 29-40 gal range.

socalreefer73, i talked to chris at nanotuners about why they have not upgraded the lights on the 32. if i am not mistaken he said that they are going to halides on them later this year to early next year. i'm not big on the 20 but i do like the all in one feature. not to mention my wife said if i get another tank it has to be everthing in one shot, no peicing things together.:D

Thanks Will!!

Unfortunately, I'm getting the bug to get a tank setup now...

(moved across the state and didn't bring my critters with me)

socalreefer73, I KNOW EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL. I CAN'T WAIT TO SELL MY 65G TO GET A FINNEX TANK. DO YOU HAPPEN TO KNOW OF ANYONE IN SOUTH CAROLINA THAT WANTS TO BY ONE??

I'm sure if you contacted your local marine aquarium society, you would find at least a few people willing to buy some, if not all, of your stuff. I was able to find one person to buy all of my LR, sand, and specimens for 200$.

thanks socalreefer73, i didn't even know there was a forum for the carolina's. I've even wanted to go to frag swap but before but they've always been so far away. I really appreaciate you pointing this out for me.

you have really made my day. Thanks:D

That's great!!!

I used to LOVE being a member of MASLAC (Los Angeles). Not only were they very informative and helpful and happy to share (pruning), but there was a really GREAT raffle at the end of every meeting...

curved(as in bow fronts) are really a SOB to clean and you will get a bit of distortion but its not to bad, my 80 was actully started in a 29 euro (bowfront) it just gives you that extra room to work with as smaller tanks really dont have that much depth. i actuuly now wish i had gone with the 72 bowfront.

I have two 32M tanks, one reef and one seahorse. These, in addition to my 210 and 180 FO. Personally I like them so far. I am waiting on Chris @ Nanotuners to finalize the MH lighting mod for the reef.
I replaced the skimmers with Tunze's
Nano DOC skimmers(much better quality) and am installing a Vortech pump in each one. So far I am very pleased. They have been up for about 5 months now.
