Finnex M-Tanks

Whats the story behind these? I like the fact its a "complete system" and wont need too much moding.

Anyone have one of these, what are your thoughts.

I was looking at the 20G package, lighting, sump, skimmer, etc.

Is the stock PC lighting these come with enough, or is the MH upgrade a must? ( or is there a cheaper way to upgrade, than buying their package?)

Having trouble locating one in the chicagoland area, I have only found them online.

Any LFS's carry these?

Still debating on which route to take...originally was going to buy a AGA 20G standard tank, but have since moved towards the Nano-Cube/M-Tank packages.

Thanks for any input

I guess a downside to this tank is you cannot have any jumper fish for lack of a top. I really dont want any jumpers, so that really isnt an issue for me.

Even at 20G, they seemed bigger than the 24G NC, maybe its the layout. But the frameless tank, and no top, give it a nicer look/view imho.

never heard of Tropi-quatics. Ill have to check it out. all the LFS's around here dont have or never heard of these tanks.

TRL....

comparing those two packages... is it worth the jump to the second mentioned price wise. Or is it more of an advantage to buy the basic set-up, and do lights on your on later?
I really like the display of this tank, it grows on me more and more.

For some reason the NC and AP seem closed in or something to me. Im really not sure what it is.

I did see a great price on the 24G NC today, but I'd really like to find myself one of these M-Tanks.

Well it depends on what you want to keepââ"šÂ¬Ã‚¦? I am not sure of the quality of the Finnex light, but it depends on your budget for $170 it might be worth it. Similar HQI hoods go for $250 +. I am looking at T5 HO system for a tank of similar size. Check out the Tek light http://www.reefgeek.com/products/categories/lighting/104186.html although it gets pretty pricy after bulbs, acrylic shield and the mounting feet or hanging kit. The Current USA Extreme Nova is less expensive, but only has one big reflector. I have heard you get much better results using individual parabolic reflectors for each bulb. I am no lighting expert, and still do not know how I will illuminate my new tank, but have read good things about T5 HO on smaller systems.

My friend just upgraded to a new 12g nano, and said he would give me his old 12G nano.

Problem is, his lighting is on the fritz. I guess maybe the ballast got wet, and the light goes in and out and doesnt always work.

I wouldnt mind using the tank...but what are my lighting options..

Looking to buy something complete that can just go on or be installed and your done. Figure its a good time to upgrade from the stock lighting anyways.

any suggestions?
