Well, I am currently in Tampa for a work training thing this week, and decided to check out Finz, since it's only about a mile from my hotel. Unfortunately I couldn't purchase anything, I have training all day tomorow before getting to drive home during rush hour, but decided to check it out and do a little review of the place.
Customer Service
Chris, the owner was very nice and outgoing and was extremely friendly the moment I walked into the store. I even told him up front I wasn't buying anything, just in from the Orlando area and wanted to check out the store.
Fish Selection
Holy Big Fish batman! For those of you guys looking for some larger fish for the swimming pool size tanks out there, this guy has them. I do have to say it was a little sad seeing such big fish in the tanks they were in, but the fish appeared to be extremely healthy. Chris also fed every single tank that we were looking at fish in, just to show the fish were eating very well. Couple of cool fish I haven't seen anywhere else. The one I remember the most was a wrought iron angelfish. Very pretty fish, with a very pretty price, $1500. ouch!
He also had a fairly decent selection of fish for the average tank owner. One thing I notice, was all of the fish were nowhere near thin. I was very surprised how fat most of the fish were.
Coral + Anemone Selection
Not to much in the SPS category. Not a bad selection of frags in the softies/LPS category. Had a really cools Hell's fire Anemone. Quite a few atlantic flower anemones. Even had some Jellyfish in stock.
Dry Goods
Honestly, I must have missed that isle, because I don't remember seeing much. I'm not saying they don't have any, I think I was just to enthralled by the fish. lol.
This is the end of the week, and I know stores get picked out very heavy in the beginning of the week when the shipments come in, but overall I would have to say Finz seemed to be a decent store and still have a pretty nice stock in tonight. Definately worth checking out if your in the tampa area.
Don't forget ORCA members get a ~20% discount too. That makes it even better!!
