fire shrimp molt

hi all ...

i just got a fire shrimp and the first night he molted ... should i be concerned over this? i don't think so, it was probably just time, but figured i would ask.

also, should i remove the molt from the tank? it's in a tough spot and can't get to it w/o moving rock.

Molting is just a sign of growth. If your shrimp are molting, your water quality is probably pretty good. So yeah it was probably just time to molt. About removing the molt, I only remove it if I can easily reach it. Usually I just let the scavengers of the tank take care of it and nothing bad happens.

Its also caused by excessive toxins or excessive Iodine in the water but I wouldn't worry about that unless your dosing Iodine or the like It could also have been caused by the difference in tank parameters from the other tank to yours.

My fire shrimps will molt once in awhile and I have had one do it the night of a tank change also so its really nothing to worry about unless they start molting constantly than there may be an issue.

The molt is fine to leave in as the scavengers will eat it unless you can get to it then pull it out if you want. You probably will see the shrimp hide for awhile till its shell/skin hardens

i don't dose so i doubt it would be a Iodine problem and he's already hiding pretty good ...
