Firefish Question

I have 1 firefish in my 75. I started with 2 but he killed the other one. If I get 2 more will he kill them? Are they better keep in groups of 3 or more then pairs?

they'l kill con-specifics unless a pair in most cases. So yes he/she will kill them

I would have thought a 2 or 3 would be fine in such a large tank, surprising.

The school is a misconception that LFS gives when they have many in a tank for a short time.

They do when their juveniles, just like Bangais and Chromis. But unfortunately they end up killing each other

I have a red and a purple firefish together in a 110. They seem to get along fine. Maybe they are different enough that they don't fight. Either that or they are too busy looking out for the big tangs they don't have time to fight each other LOL.

they are usually fine if they are male female. usually you buy 3 so hoefully you get 2 of one and 1 of the other. i had 2 in my tank for 4 months till my stupid coral banded shrimp got them

I have 3 that I've had for about two months, and they seem to get along fine, but they're juveniles. I imagine I will probably get rid of them before they are grown, though, since I just got them to be easy beginner fish. Hoping mine don't kill themselves off.

I have 2 reds, 1 purple and 1 Helfrich in a 120. So far so good, after a few months. The reds and Helfrich stay together on the right side of the tank, the purple at the other end. I didn't realize firefish would fight.
