How big is your tank? Did you get the firefish at the same time? Do you have any fish that would make your firefish feel uncomfortable?

I got the helfrichis all at once. They really don't seem to be bothered by anyone. They are of course quick to disappear if threatened, but other than that, no worries. The purple was there first. hasn't been an issue. I have a couple of tangs in a death struggle right now, and it's not bothering the helfrichis. Amusingly enough, one of my bluespots was flashing and darting upward to attract a mate while the tangs were chasing each other in circles around him. Fish seem to know what is important to them, and that's it.

I have a tang that is extremely curious. I inherited a firefish that did fine for a year or so with the tang, but it became more and more reclusive. It finally died. I don't know if the tang's behavior had anything to do with it.
The first fish I bought was a purple firefish...Tank crashed...only survivor...Moved...combined a 110 and a 125 into a 320ish...mystery disease killed 2/3 of my fish...qted for 8 weeks in copper, formalin, furyn, etc...still got that purple firefish in the tank. It's been about 3 years or so now and darn it seems hardy.
