First algae bloom?

Started my tank about a week ago. Been measuring the levels and I don't think I had my Ammonia spike yet, but I come home to this. Is this my algae bloom?

Bacteria, right... Still trying to get my terminology down. Thanks. Lots of little bubbles. I assume they are Ammonia, Nitrate, or Nitrite coming from the "stuff"

The giant whitish thing is a dead coral that came on the rock. I have been searching for what that was and I just today figured out its aiptasia. Best ways to kill it?

The ones in the left pic are not. Those are feather dusters or something like that. The one on the right with long thin tentacles is the aip. This link has a close up pic of aip. http://fins.actwin.com/species/index.php?t=9&i=310 I think most people use kalk paste on top of them. Theres also aipistasia-x, and I think you can also squirt h2o2 on them if I'm not mistaken. I've pulled some off with tweezers before but that can be hit or miss. They will shrink down when disturbed to almost being non existent.

I've read into it and I'm wondering if its too early to try the peppermint shrimp course of action. I wasn't planning on putting anything in for a while now, but I'd rather not get rid of the rock, or leave it outside to bake in the Arizona sun, or even soak it in bleach and RO/DI water.

Did you start with actual live rock? That rock just doesn't appear to be new it looks like it's been in a tank for a while.

Yes it's real. I got it at a LFS. It was the best stuff I could find. I had a small amount of die off when I put it in but it recovered quickly and has started looking the way it does in these pictures.

Because you started with real live rock you would not see a an ammonia spike, the rock is already cycled, go ahead and add your cuc and peppermint shrimp

Oh that big white thing? that's a sponge more than likely. There are many different colors and types of sponges, you may have several different ones.

Got 3 peppermint shrimp and 6 hermit crabs over the weekend. After slowly introducing them to the water I added the crew to the tank and they went right to work. In the first few minutes, the shrimp battled with the aiptasia and I haven't seen them since.

Pretty sure the white thing is a skeleton of a coral. It had what was left of some tentacles that fell off shortly after being placed in the tank.

I'd keep an eye out for the aipistasia. They have an uncanny ability to shrink to microscopic level when disturbed. (probably not actually microscopic but pretty friggin close). Poke one with some tweezers and youll see what I mean.
