2nd day post hatching - 10.02.2014
Thanks you all for your comments . They warm my heart

Concerning the phyto i add a couple of drops in the fry tank to get the rotifers enriched and the kids happy.
Today has been the 2nd day post hatching. They are getting bigger every hour. I think i figured out why some of the fry has been swimming close to the bottom of the tank. I blacked out only the sides but not the bottom. The tank is sitting on white surface so the reflection from the light above confused some that the light source was at the bottom. A few hours after i blacked it out there were all swimming everywhere but the bottom.
i was getting a bit concerned with the rotifer count as yesterday was only getting larger but today i noticed that there was a smaller amount of rotifers and the little ones where doing their move: run - twist the tail - dart away (sign that they are eating).
Today i siphoned out approximately 20% of the water (around 2litres) and cleaned all the debris at the bottom (mainly phytoplankton that had become solid). 2 of the fry were also belly up and removed from the tank. I checked the salinity of the fry tank and compared it to the salinity of the display tank and they were found the same (1.0265). Checked the temperature and was also found the same (27C). I then slow dripped equal amount of water i siphoned out at a rate of 2 drops per second. I drop the water right on top of the bubbles for better distribution of the new water.
Concerning the light: I removed 1 sheet of paper today leaving 3 sheets of paper still in place. The light is still running 24hr.
Rotifer culture: Did 50% water change. I sieved the rotifers out and placed them back in the new clean bucket along with the remaining rotifers. It ends up being a good idea to have a double rotifer culture. Might be a bit more work but it surely is less stress.
This is how the tank looks from above.
And a couple of a close up shots. Not the best but as a proud father i feel they are beautiful :fish1:
