First attempt

Im glad your doing good! I just placed a power filter in to help with filtration. My babies are 21 days old as of today. Still have around 60 and most have all 2 white strips and their bottom black fins. I have noticed them swimming closer to the bottom the past couples of days as well.

I got a question for you guys, I have only 12 fry that are 11 days old now and another batch of eggs on night 11 now was able to get 4 fry out last night. They parents are in the DT tank and I am unable to remove the rock that they lay the eggs on. So far every batch of eggs never seem to hatch the same night. I'll be able to get three or four on night 9 and then maybe a couple more the next night and so on. Do your eggs seem to hatch all on the same night?

I wait about 1 1/2 before checking to see if they hatched and I do not shine the light on them when I check. I scoop out what I see usually only a couple then wait about and hour and check again. By then its 1 in the morning I crank the pumps back up and a light on so they don't hatch untill the next night. I'm starting to loose sleep over the little guys, I did get four last nightand Ill try tonight for more. And the 12 I got the first time all are still doing great. Just not sure what I may be doing wrong if anything.

So here I am again nearly 3 weeks after the last update. Reason for not sending any update was that I was on vacation. 2 weeks in the tropical island of Boracay in the Philippines where i had the chance to dive every single day and see the "relatives" of my little babies.

Although I had a great time i was exceptionally worried of what was going on home. I had given instructions to the neighbour to feed the little ones twice a day and siphon the bottom 3 times in a total of 2 weeks.

When I arrived back I was sure that most if not all would not be there but i was totally taken by surprise. Opening the door i rushed in front of the baby tank and i counted all 28 being happy, fat and more orange than before. Most have a splash of black on their fins and start forming the second line. All very active swimmers and eating still the same food which they seem to absolutely love (ZM100, ZM300).

The "unfortunate" thing is that they are so active swimmers that it was so hard to take a good picture that would not be blurry and focus quickly. I tried my best and here are the results. So happy that they are all good and healthy :spin1:







 
It sounds to me like your neighbor has earned the choice of a pair of fish! Looking very good!

That is an amazing amount of help from a neighbor. Is he/she a reef keeper?
 
always a good feeling to come back from a trip and see the tank unaffected!!!

grmpfish you right that reed mariculture or florida aqua farm is possibly a good source if you are in the other side of the Atlantic - unfortunately it will cost you an arm and a leg if you want to have it shipped in EU. I found REEF PHYTO very professionals and quick to dispatch and will choose them next time as well.

The little ones keep on growing. As their size increases the increase rate seems to be less noticeable. We can see they are growing mainly by their coloration. Percula clownfish seems to be a "slow starter" where it comes to stripes. All have their first white line fully formed with a darker (nearly black) outline. Most have a splash of black on the tips of their pectoral fins and many have started developing their mid line. For the latter some have started developing the black coloration whilst other have started with the white. There are 2 that are the smallest of all and only have the first stripe (no black pectoral fins nor second stripe). The largest ones are approximately 3cm and the little ones 1,5cm.

There are still 28, very active swimmers. They are not staying as long as they used in their little PVC homes and not bullying each other as much. Feeding them still twice a day with ZM-100. Tried to give some bigger pallets but they didnt like it. Once a week I am siphoning out approximately 30% of water and debris and replacing it with new one. I have noticed that when the water reaches the 7th day (day of water change) the little ones are not that active swimmers - nearly in a lethargic state which changes the moment i change the water. Ammonia is in 0 where nitrates around 50. I added a small Kenyan tree and bubble coral to see if they will thrive with the nitrates. For the time being they seem that kids like the corals.

Awesome thread Dino, I am in the middle of looking for a great pair of snowflakes that I eventually want to breed. Will definitely be saving this thread and using it to help me along the way. Thanks for sharing!
