EXIF info says 300mm!

I like shot #4. Very nice. I might have stopped down a few more stops for greater DOF and removed the few flakes of snow.

Shots 2, 3 and 5 look dark to me.

Good shots! I'm guessing you're shooting with a 70-300? ;)

I agree with stopping down a bit.. maybe to f11 for greater DOF (or you can try focus stacking).

I see that you're at ISO 100.. are you using a tripod or just hand-holding? If you're handholding, try shooting at a higher ISO and faster exposure to reduce blur. If you're on a tripod, I would switch to manual mode, stop down all the way to f16 or f22 and adjust EV accordingly.

Also, those are sharp considering that you are at 300mm focal range :eek2:

Its a canon Macro lens EF 100mm, I was using a tripod. I have a hard time focusing in manual I always see blurry even when its in focus that why I was using auto. I'll try again changing the stops.
Thanks for the input

Strange, the exif info in the first 4 shots lists the focal length of the lens as 300mm. In the last shot it is listed as 100mm.

If you got the Canon EF 100mm F2.8 Macro USM lens on sale, way to go! It's a very good lens and should provide you with years of macro goodness.

Some suggestions - For maximum visual yumminess, keep the camera on the tripod and the ISO at 100 unless your subject is moving and you need to use a faster shutterspeed. Try also using Av mode while shooting. You pick the aperature and the camera will suggest a shutterspeed that will work with that aperature. Should help with your overall darkness.

Its a canon Macro lens EF 100mm
Something is wrong here...
A) The lens is having an identity crisis
B) The origional poster is confused
C) There is some other element that nobody is catching

Gina--at the top right corner (or somewhere close), of your view finder there should be a little dial. You need to look through your viewfinder and move that dial until the numbers in your view finder are clear. Once you have done that, when you use manual focus you should notice a big difference in your pictures.

If you already knew about this and have done it, I apologize! :)

I agree with the other posters about increasing your ISO. I aslo think the 4th shot down is a nice one!
