First battle with ich...

Well, I guess it was bound to happen. I've been in the hobby about 6 years now and somehow have managed to avoid an ich outbreak with all my fish.

A few months back I purchased a little Kole tang. The first few days the Kole seemed to be doing great and the other 3 tangs didn't really seem to be picking on him. Then all of the sudden, he quickly began to retreat to the rocks and would very rarely come out. Long story short...he finally gave it up a few weeks back. But in the mean time while the Kole was sick, my powder blue began to have what looked to me as ich spots all over him. The funny thing is I never saw a single thing on the hippo and yellow tangs.

The good news is after about a month the powder blue is looking good again and I think the ich has subsided. I don't know what finally broke the ich, but I tried to continually feed nori doused with garlic juice and vitamins. Everybody in the tank liked the Thera A New Life Spectrum but the powder blue...image that.

All in all I am happy and can now say I defeated what I think was ich. Can someone confirm the picture looks like ich?

Yup I'd say ich. Like said above the powders seem to get it very easily. But I'm glad to hear all is well and the fish is doing better

Its so much easier to deal with if the fish is still eating. I did hyposalinity at 1.009with a refractometer for 6 weeks to make sure everyone was ok too. The fish didnt mind that salinity at all!
