So I'm pretty bummed out. I'm sitting on my computer next to my tank and i hear a weird/loud noise. At first I thought my overflow box lost siphon but when I looked I notice a large pink blob on my powerhead. My BTA which I've had for a bout a month now got his guts strewn all across the tank. Was a beauty too. He moved a couple times since I got him and he was doing really well, clowns hosted and everything. I know people make comments about nems meeting their fate with the powerheads but man....that sucks. I'm assuming this happens a fair share to everyone? I keep going over in my head if there was anything I could have done to prevent it. I know he probably released and got caught up in the flow of my other powerhead which probably pushed him up into the power head he ended up in. I like the current positions of the head because it creates a nice counter clockwise flow in the tank and keeps the water moving without creating any hot spots. Ah...man..thus is the life of a reefer :sad2:

Sorry about your lost. I've been on your shoes before, I've lost multiple RBTA the same way. i have foam covers for both of my power heads now. it's not a solution but it does prevents it from getting shredded. One of my small anemones ended up on the foam and it damage some of its tentacles, however it did survived.

Was in your shoes. Bta puree and mag puree. my new replacement seems to stay put

bummer.... sorry to hear that.

there is actually a thread on rc where a guy made covers for his powerheads to prevent that. i will look it up later, if someone else doesn't post a link.

i have yet to have that happen. i don't have powerheads in either of my nem tanks, and the sebae in my reef tank hasn't moved since added. i'm picking up a gig this weekend, and going to need one though. kind of nervous about that part...

Cool...thanks. Yeah if you could post it when you get chance, that would be awesome. It's either that or I think I'm gonna have to fork up for another Koralia. I have a Nano 425 but the one the BTA got ginsu'd in was a marineland maxijet 1200 which the guard is pretty wide open. the Koralia looks like the BTA would have lost some tentacles but I doubt the body would have made it through. With the maxijet, pretty much the only thing outside stuck on the grill was the foot. Everything was floating throughout the tank.
