Its doing really well. Its attached its foot and is eating phyto that I supplement.

Are smaller clams generally harder to take care of?

Maxima's under 2" have a pretty high mortality rate. But for some reason I have good luck with them

don't directly try to feed the clam, they get what they need mostly from your light. They may filter some phyto but not much. You can clog thier gills by directly squirting the clam with phyto.
