Just added my first Cbb to my tank. I notice his swimming around and picking on the rocks a lot. He has been in the tank 3 days. What is he picking at I don't really see anything on the rock is he eating pods. Also sometimes it's not even in crevices. It's in the Middle of a rock could a pod be there in the day

Also I read tangs can stress at this fish. My kole doesn't even look at my Cbb

did you quarantine and treat for flukes before going into the DT? I would also keep an eye out on the Tang. It can turn at any moment. Once a cooperband gets stressed, they become more difficult to manage and get eating.

The tang seems to ignore him but will do. So far Cbb eating mysit Will admit he is a slow eater. Most of the other fish grab all the food first. Also soaking food in garlic. No it's not a cute but does help a little.

One of my favorite fish but I've always had a tough time getting them to eat. A 57 is pretty small so I'd get the 265 going asap.

I used to have a ton of aiptasias. My CBB had itch when comming but after killing all of them, he recovered :). He works hard, always picks things on rocks.

The big tang usually attacks the smaller. I often pick the bigger to the sump when getting the smaller for few weeks. Later the bigger chases but the smaller is now acclimated and the tank is big enough to escape :) If the newer is smaller than the older a little, I will feed the newer heavily, after few weeks they are balanced and live peacefully :)

FYI, garlic is bad for fish long term.

Thanks I won't use it long term. And I know it probably doesn't do anything. But it's like vitamins for people Probably does nothing but make expensive pee but millions use it and swear by it

Get him some live black worms if you can. Had one for over a year. Ate and loved black worms. Noticed when feeding the other fish frozen he was eating that as well so stopped with the black worms at about a year. Didn't realize he was not eating enough and eventually within a couple of months he died. I believe from starvation.....completely my fault. If I would have kept him on the black worm diet along with frozen I would probably still have him today. A favorite fish of mine but very finicky eaters. Hope you have a good one. I see you're an LI guy. Magic Isle in Centereach almost always has live black worms. A bit of a hike for you but for your Butterfly's sake worth it. Not unless you can get them closer.

From what I've read black worms are a great source of nutrition for any fish. The rest of your fish will probably gladly gobble them up. Make sure you get black worms and not tubifex.

If you can't get any blackworms, you can go to your local supermarket and get some fresh clams or mussels and see how he does with that. I have had great success with them for angels and butterflies that were picky eaters.

thanks so far he seems to go after food, but on some chooses he stops short. i know its going to be a challenge to make sure he outcompeats the other hogs for food. some of my fish are so used to me feeding them, they almost jump into the cup when i try to get some water in it to defrost the cube of food.

Yep, I usually rubberband the whole clam shell to a piece of rock and let it sit on the sandbed for about 3-4 hours.
