First Fish

I just got a Singapore angel the other day and he is already not looking good, seems like he may even have ick. I see two small little white dots on his side near his fin. But anyways, I hate to say it i think i am going to return him on Monday. But out of the following fish which would be best to introduce as first fish in my 46 fowlr tank? Pair of clowns, Pair of cardinal fish (either bangaii or pajama), wrasse of some sort, dwarf angel of some sort?

I would leave the DT empty for 8 weeks to allow any ich that may have seeded itself in the tank to die off. You could have both cardinals and clowns. I would intro the cardinals first. I prefer bangaii. Then the clowns. If your interested in Dwarg Angels the flame would be a good centerpiece fish that stands out. Add the angel last.

Probably not the best choice for a first fish. Be sure and do your research before buying.

Per Drs. Foster and Smith - Rating: Difficult

The Singapore Angelfish can be challenging to keep. Some acclimate well, while others hide constantly and do not eat. Providing a quietly-located aquarium with non-aggressive tank mates and plenty of hiding places may help. A minimum of a 50 gallon tank or larger provided with live rock for grazing will also help provide an optimal environment.

The diet should consist of mysis or finely shaved frozen shrimp, and other meaty items.

I agree with the above about waiting then I would go with the cardinals, only becasue they are cheaper than the clowns. Both of those fish are hardy and easy to keep though. Sorry to hear about your angel.

thanks and thanks lol. Yeah, I am still undecided about of it is ick or not but I am not going to risk it since there is only a 3 day return policy. He actually is swimming all around picking at my rocks and loving the tank but I just don't want to risk it. Thanks for the advice I think my next purchase will be 2 tank raised cardinals (pajama or bangaii).

Whatever fish you decide to get, you should put them in your QT for a couple of weeks. This way if any health issues arise you can treat them without effecting your DT.
