first la order (starry blenny)

I ordered my starry blenny late thursday so i have been waiting a couple days now and can't wait. this is my first blenny and i want to make sure i take care of him, though i do have some natural algae growth i was wondering if i should buy some algae and put it on a clip so he becomes accostomed to it or what should i go buy to have ready for his arrival food wise.

i know you only respond m-f so if i could get a response monday i would appreciate it so i can stop by my lfs for the correct food.

Thank you for your post. Naturally growing algae is the best food for your Starry Blenny. However once that is no longer available you may want to try San Francisco Bay Brand Seaweed Salad or Seaweed Select. Both of these are high in nutrition and will help with his growth and keep him healthy. Any foods that are for herbivores such as Spirulina is highly recommended as well.

I just recieved my order and everything looks healthy about to leave work so i can acclimate and put in my qt. my only question is all the starry blennies i've seen are usually black with white spots mine is a very very light brown, is this a normal color or is it because of the stress and being in a dark box? will it darken up?

Thank you for your inquiry. It is likely that the color change may be due to stress. The coloration of the Starry Blenny should turn back to normal as it becomes more acclimated to its surroundings. If the fish still continues to be a light brown towards the end of the warranty period, please contact us.

*Update*

during acclimation the color started to darken up and over night is looking really good can't wait to get home and see him with the lights on.

this is my first livestock online order and liveaquaria has def won my business for future purchases A+
