First Live Rock

ya i turned of the tank lights last night, and saw the starfish crawling around.. and i saw a worm thing stick out of a hole for a second... im going to get a red flashlight and look more when all the lights are off..

I was watching the rocks earlier and I saw a little bug who was mainly clear with a red butt crawlingaround very very quickly. That was fascinating, especially since the lights were on. :)

Ok, not sure about the size of your tank. However I can tell you that unless you have a huge tank with a nice established sandbed, you will eventually starve a sand sifting star to death. You really shouldn't have any worries about asterina stars messing with mushrooms or a bta.

I can tell you from experience that most people who get on this forum eventually get sucked in by all of the amazing tank pics. Eventually to end up spending way more money than they ever planned on. :)

lol, yeah I know about the getting sucked in thing, my tank is slowly growing into a great expense that is leeching from my clothing budget (which is just fine with me, who needs new clothes when all you do is sit in front of the tank and play with your fish (mine come up and follow my fingers around, we've bonded)???)

No I don't have a huge tank, just a 70 gal, all the sand has been in for five months so no its not well established. Of course trying to sell me stuff I was told a sand sifting star would be fine in my tank...so yeah, Thanks for the warning! I have my LR set up though so its off most of the bottom of the tank, I probably should be asking if this set up is alright (I've got a bunch of small smooth non-porous rocks set up in a checkerboard pattern with the LR set on top of it, the fish seem to like it they swim in around and under all the pathways all the time. I did make sure its nice and study so that rocks don't fall on my fishies, but still I hope this isn't bad for the LR?)

No worries about your rock.. The good stuff on the rock will make it to the sand! You would really be amazed about how live your sand is after five months. A 70gal is a nice tank, congrats!

One thing about reefcentral, while a great source of information, it is also full of opinions (my opinions included). Most of the members posting are giving you information based on personal experience. So please do take any suggestions with a grain of salt.
