Well it was nice meeting you all. Gained alot of good info. As far as my skimmer, the eshopps psk150 is to big to fit in my sump. I decided to go with the vertex in 80 for now until i build a bigger sump, which is no time in the near future. Hey RTMA, that frag you gave me is actually doing well in the tank...it opened this morning when i turned on the lights. First do you know what it is and second where should i put it in the tank...it is after all my first coral...

Good choice on the skimmer, that's a pretty good one. Glad to hear the frag is doing well, What kind of lights do you have? And you have to remind me which frag it was, red or yellow?

I am running a Deep Blue Light Set up. It's 48" with 4 t5 ho. 2 are white 2 are blue and 8 LED Moonlights. The frag is actually orange. I have it set about mid level in the tank. It is still alive. I looked at your new skimmer post and you mention wet and dry skimming. Not too sound foolish but what does that mean. On my skimmer the discharge tube turns from open to closed. The instructions said to start it in the open position then adjust as needed. Please explain

Wet / dry skim is determined by the height of the water. The higher the water level the "wetter" the skim. Simply meaning there is more water, diluting the skimmate and drawing more water with the bubbles, the lower the water height, the drier the skimmate produced as less water travels up with the bubbles. A dry skim gives you a dark, opaque skimmate and wet skim is more translucent.

Open position means a low water level and closing the position raises the water level, you do this to determine the optimum water level needed to produce skimmate. After the skimmer breaks in for a day or so (depending on the skimmer) you can close the position and start experimenting, if you close it too much the skimmer can over flow, open it too much and you may not skim at all. Over time you will find that sweet spot
