First nuisance algae : Hair -_-

Thought I read online that if something happens to a sea hare it could ruin the tank...or maybe that was a cucumber.
I had amazing success with a sea hare. I picked one up at LFS for about $12, the tank was free and clear in just days.

Sea Hares are pretty hardy... Though once it runs out of algae, it will starve and die. That's why it's best to buy, let them do their thing then donate back to store or to the next infested tank!

Will a sea hair eat calderpa?

I was really hoping I wouldnt have to come back to this post but alas the GHA just wont stop taking over. Im not sure what the source may be. I tested my RODI with a TDS meter and it comes back with 1 PPM. I have not tested a fresh batch of salt yet but not sure that could even be the issue. I feed very sparingly and I only have 2 clowns and a tailspot blenny in the tank.

I do have a fair amount of natural sunlight in the room I have my tank in but I have read that may not really be my issue. Recently I bought some chemi pure elite and a really nice piece of clean chaeto. The chaeto has been in since 6/23 and the chemi pure only in since 3 days ago. Im wondering if I should somehow look into plumbing a reactor. I cant do an dark few days because I have coral in the tank. I do have a bottle of flucanozole sitting around but i really want to use that as my last ditch effort.

You can do dark days.. Corals can easily handle 3 days lights out..
You can also use fluconazole too without worrying..
Sunlight hitting the tank is not helping either..

Post a picture too of the problem please...

I will post a picture when I get home. Im thinking of blacking out the room temporarily and then doing the 3 days off in the display to see that does for me.

It won't... ;)
3 days lights out only really works (helps some) for bacteria like cyano..
Its not nearly enough to do any damage to algae..

Just fluconzole it and be done..

But again.. your tank is still new.. some algae should be expected and tolerated...
Picture would really let me know if you have a problem or just think you do..
