Thought I'd add my recent experience to this page. On Friday last, 7/31, I received my first order ever placed with Blue Zoo.
On the Monday before placing my order, I had spoken at length with Mark and he seemed to understand what I wanted and implied that he would give my requests his personal attention, especially as it related to a 2 "“ 2 ½ inch adult Majestic Angel that was the centerpiece of the order. We discussed how hard it was to find a healthy Majestic of that size as they are in somewhat great demand, but he said if I was willing to wait, he could fill my request. I then learned on Thursday that my complete order would be shipped that day.
My order was as follows:
1 small adult Majestic Angel "“ Maximum size including tail 2 ¾ inches
1 small Flame Angel "“ Maximum size including tail 1 ½ inches
1 small Copper Band Butterfly "“ Maximum size including tail 2 inches
1 small Royal Gramma - No size specified
1 small Cleaner Shrimp - No size specified
1 small Green Hairy Mushroom "“ 1 single polyp as per website
Here's what I received:
2 ¾ inch Majestic Angel
1 ½ inch Flame Angel
3 inch Copper Banded Butterfly
1 ¼ inch Royal Gramma
1 ¼ inch Cleaner Shrimp
3 "“ 4 inch mushroom rock with 3 polyps, no undesirable hitchhikers
I was pleasantly surprised at how well my size requests were adhered to. The only item that was mis-sized was the Copper Banded Butterfly, but this is forgivable since it is doing well in my QT. It started taking live black worms and live brine almost immediately, and is now also eagerly eating small bite-sized pieces of raw cocktail shrimp and is appearing to be gaining weight. The shrimp and the rock were added directly to my DT. The Mushrooms are doing well and the shrimp stays hidden, but I know he's moving around because when I look closely for him, I find him in different locations around the tank. The four fish are in my QT and are all eating live brine, live black worms and the small pieces of cocktail shrimp. The only fish that has taken formula two frozen when I offer it is the Flame. But he loses interest when he sees he's the only one eating. In any case I'm not too worried about this as I feel the Majestic and the Flame will eventually take whatever the other angels in the DT ( 2 ½ inch Regal Angel and 2 ½ inch Juvi Emperor Angel) are eating after they join them.
