Greetings everyone,
I have zero experience in terms of reef tanks but i cannot resist the urge to start one and especially because of the joy that gives me every time I see a tank in someone elses house or at the pet shop. I had fresh water aquariums since i was a kid and started to take this passion seriously for about 10 years. I started this topic because I want to make sure that i get things right from the beginning and I'm sure I have a lot to learn from you.
I will tell you about my ideas: The project will unfold in an aquarium of 110 liters (Aquatlantis 100) which is now filled with freshwater and I will try to use everything everything i have so i dont exceed my budget. I will not use a sump because of limited space. The aquarium will house two clowns, 1 chromis and 1 banggai cardinal. I will try not to push the limits of the system so i can have a clean aquarium, simple and without too many headaches. Corals will be added later, beginning with soft corals and ending with LPS.
In the next period I decided to buy the necessary equipment and I would like to consult with you before i buy:
Skimmer: TUNZE DOC Skimmer 9004 (best quality / price + has a shape that fits well inside the display)
Water pumps: 2 x Jebao Jecod RW 4 (i do not think I need more considering that the aquarium will be dominated by LPS)
ATO: Osmolateur TUNZE Nano 3152 (simple and effective even if not with Infrared sensor)
Light: Neon ATI 1xBlue plus and 1xCoral Plus (i already use a 2x39w lighting system with a very good reflector. I hope to be enough)
TUNZE 3162 Comline Streamfilter Filtre (a very good internal filter that will complement the skimmer and will be filled with Carbon and Jbl BioNitratEx)
Reactors: I plan to use one reactor for GFO that will hang on the back of the aquarium.
Refractrometer ATC (I found a site in France and is somewhat cheaper than Red Sea)
Heater: Aqua Medic Aqua Medic Titanium 100w + T thermostat controller twin (I know that the temperature in marine aquariums is very important and I hope the aqua medic equipment will do the job)
Salt: Red Sea Coral Pro
Osmosis: RUWAL Aquapro 50SS - 190 L / D (5 stages of filtration+ tds)
Live Rock: 15 kg Indonesia + Dead Rock to complement
Tests: Salifert: PO 4, No3, Kh, Mg, Ca, NH4, NO2, ph
So this is the equipment I want to start my project with. Am i missing anything from the list or should i change anything? Im looking forward for opinions, advices and if everything is okay, in the next period i will be placing the order.
All the best,
Ovidiu
