first saltwater tank help

Hey everone i am thinking about setting up a saltwater fish tank i have never had a saltwater tank before just freshwater.Going to be useing a 100GL fish tank used to have 2 10inch oscars in there.right now i have a rena xp3 canister filter and AquaClear 110 for filtering can
i use these in a salt water tank? and what other stuff would i need i know i need salt and the test kits but would i need to get like a Protein Skimmer and power heads and do i really need to put live rock in it.Can you put decorations in it like plants or like a ship i was thinking maybe buying some base rock with some live rock but not a lot dont like taking up a lot of space with rocks and where would the best place to buy the rocks online and would i need to have the rocks in the tank before i start to cycle the tank. sorry for all the questions i am asking well g2g now of to work will ask some more questions later i am sure and yes i will be buying a book to thanks
 
your at the right place, i just spend about 45 minutes a day reading everyones questions and answer and i throw an occasional one myself

Using LR is not imperative, however it gives you a more natural looking aquarium. Many people take a tank like that, Add a sump, return, protein skimmer, a heater, and a slightly better light, and essentially you have a tank for fish only. You would need a lot more if you planned on doing a reef aquarium..........

Do a lot of reading. I have about 40 books that I have read front to cover, and about 20 days worth or time I have spent here on RC researching. To do it well, it will take a long time to just get the tank up and running, then everything will SLOWLY fall into its place.
