First Saltwater Tank

Ok So about a week ago I set up my first saltwater tank. It is a 10 gallon tank. I have 10 LBS of live sand and about 5 LBS of crushed coral. I have 12-15 Lbs of live rock that I got from a friend and is cured very well. I am using an Aqua-Clear 50 (rated at 200 gph) with just a sponge in it nothing else. I have a Koralia Nano (rated at 240 gph). I have a 50 watt heater and the temp in the tank stays between 80.4 and 80.6. For Lighting I am using two 50/50 bulbs that are 20 watts each so 40 watts the whole tank. Is there anything I should change? Any suggestions?

sounds good, all you are missing is a shrimp goby pair, some sexy shrimp, maybe a yellow clown or panda goby, maybe a Pygmy cherub angelfish or orchid dottyback..lots of decisions to be made () : )

ooh and some coral!!

im sure all is well, i personally dont like crushed coral though, and do you need the sponge in the aqua-clear? h---mmmm, anyhow the best of luck to you and welcome to RC, hope to see your progress in later threads:)

personally i wouldnt start up with a ten gallon tank, small tanks are harder to maintain, especially for a newbie, however you have it and i hope all goes well for you and hopefully it will, i suggest starting off with a blenny or 1 clown and some crabs and snails, im not sure about the 30 gallon comment from roger, he may well be right, but ive seen clowns in small nano tanks and with a couple of small soft corals like shrooms or polyps the tank looks nice, i dont think a ten gallon is suitible for 3 fish mind which is what you want, if you want more advice re-post in the nano forum and the guys in there with small tanks can probably help you a little more
