First sighting

does anyone know what this is? It just showed up today for the first time and it is staying out.

It is a little bigger than a 1/2 dollar.

that is crazy, so are the "feathers" actually connected or just bunched up? Try touching it, What does it do?

looks to me like a featherduster I have seen many types on my rock and none seem to hurt anything they are filter feeders

It looks like they are connected and it disappeared soon as I touched it, but I didn't see where it went.

It looks like a Feather Duster... Mine disappears like that too when I accidently touch it...

its definitely a feather duster...It is actually a worm inside a tub that extends these feather like extensions to catch food and bring it back to eat... the worm can release the "feathers" as well.
