First sw. tanks

Blindside

New member
I've had fish ever since St.ann bartlett carnival(Carassius auratus auratus aka Goldfish) when I was in second grade! Took me till I was 26 to start a sw tank. Found this pic in my photo album, not so bad for a Fluval filter, power compacts, prizm skimmer and the old rio powerheads! Share some of your older tanks picks! Seems like everyone is always moving to bigger or more acomidating tanks. Lets give some props to the old Tanks and see how far we have come!

My "new" tank under construction in the wall circa 1978, notice dead, bleached corals for decoration.

Wow - I've had a lot of tanks.

Here is a picture of mine covered in Hair algae, I am not sure when it was taken, maybe 15 years ago but I could be way off. I still have that fireclown

Just a point of observation, we've been talking about scraping corralline off the back glass lately, pros and cons. If you look at my old 75g with corralline on the back wall vs. my old 150g with it scraped clean, I think you might agree that the coral stands out and pop better against a clean black background. To me, it looks like just scraping the back glass makes the overall tank look cleaner.

It looks much better with no coraline on the back glass. I have an algae trough on top and to the back of my tank so no light hits the back glass so nothing grows on it and it can't be seen anyway
