First tank, a few questions.

I have a 6 gallon nanocube which I'm looking to stock.

I was pretty much just interested in stocking the tank with inverts, crabs, snails.

Is there a quick reference site in which I can look up different animals that would tell me about the requirements of various species? Hardiness? Ease to take care of?

I love the way the harliquin shrimp look. However after reading the forums for a whil, I've read very little about them. Is there a reason why these shrimp are not popular? Everything I've read seems to indicate that they are easy to take care of and hardy.

Can I put four shrimp, a couple of hermit crabs and about four snails in the 6 gallon? Or would that be too much?

I don't know if I want fire shrimp of harliquin. Any help would b great.

Thanks guys looking forward to getting started!

You have found probably the best resource on the entire internet for the hobby in reefcentral. If I were you, I would use the search function button at the top of the screen and search for various animals you are trying to learn about. There are dozens of threads here on anything you can possibly think of. It is a good start that you understand this hobby is more about the knowledge than the actual "doing."

As for harlequin shrimp, they feed exclusively on the tube feet of starfish. Plenty of people keep them, but you have to be sure you have a supply of starfish to keep them alive.

Nevermind then...

Are fire shrimp fairly easy to take care of?

What shrimp are the easiest to take care of?

Would four fire shrimp, couple of hermits, and some snails be too much for a 6 gallon tank?
